Our international students got this great experience today!! They went on a catfishing and a few even caught a master angler! They had the best time and so thankful for Mr. Thorbourne for taking them on this adventure!

The jerseys have finally come in and the Vasirty Girls VBall Team is loving every minute of them. They want to make a huge shout out and thank you to all the places for donating and giving support to their volleyball journey. A huge thank you to Tanco Mine for giving the girls team a more than generous donation for the jersey. Another huge shout out to Lisa and Solo Market for supplying the goods and venue for a major fundraiser. Thank you to Access Credit Union for supporting the program and net purchase. And thank you so much to the Pinawa Foundation for making a generous donation as well. Not only will these funds pay for the jerseys but also help support a field trip to the city to watch a college VBall game, get workshops, and support the cost of going to a tournament we just got into. The support our local and surrounding community has been for our team is outstanding and we are ready for this exciting season ahead!!!

Next week SD Whiteshell will recognize Truth and Reconciliation Day with two days of activities meant to educate and promote reflection on this important time. All week we have special announcements and offer Indigenous themed foods in the PSS canteen. Tuesday students from Grades 5 to 12 will take part in the Blanket Exercise which helps people understand the history of colonization and its long lasting effects. Friday students will take part in a variety of activities based on grade groupings including crafting, a movie screening and a reflective walk and talk. PSS & FWG are having an orange shirt day on Friday, September 27. During that day our students will take a reflective walk and then participate in a variety of “stations” that expand our knowledge and practice different indigenous traditions.
