Our grade 3 student brought the family’s Stick Bugs to the grade 2/3 class. We learned some interesting facts about Stick Bugs and then those who wanted to, could hold the bugs. We enjoyed having them visit.

Truth and Reconciliation Day (also called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation) is a day to remember and honour Indigenous children who were taken from their families and sent to residential schools in Canada. It’s also a time to support Survivors and their families, and to learn the truth about the harms caused by these schools.
The “Truth” part means facing and understanding the real history — even when it’s difficult. The “Reconciliation” part means working together to build respectful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, so that healing and positive change can happen.
Every year on September 30, people across Canada wear orange shirts, hold events, and take time to listen, learn, and reflect on how to create a more fair and caring future.
SWD will hold their Truth and Reconciliation gathering on the afternoon of September 29th at the PSS front lawn starting at approximately 1:30. Community members are welcome.
