Thank you to Hon. Wayne Ewasko for coming to FW Gilbert School on February 4 for I LOVE TO READ MONTH assembly!! FWG had a full school assembly and he read two stories to the students. After he was finished there was time for some questions and answers with the school. FWG would like to send out a big thank you Hon. Wayne Ewasko for the donations to add to our draws (backpacks full of school supplies).

FWG is kicking off I love to Read month with an all school assembly tomorrow with Guest Speaker and Reader: Honourable Wayne Ewasko. The month will be filled with various challenges and activities and as students attain them, they will be entered to win items throughout the month to encourage our young readers.

SDW had 6 first term students this year and they sure had a lot of fun. From fishing, x-country skiing, zoo lights, curling, Winnipeg Jets game, University volleyball game, camping and so much more. These students had a fun filled time while living in Pinawa. We had students from Germany, Australia, France, and New Zealand. We thank the host families for all they have done with these students during their stay to make their experience that much more enjoyable!! We will miss you all and hope that you will keep your connections with us here at the School District of Whiteshell over the years. Come back anytime!! We have 2 new students arriving February 1 and they are from Italy and Australia, we look forward to meeting them!!

This year’s golden goose for grade 9 social studies goes to Amy. Amy was our most successful student across a variety of individual and group trivia challenges throughout the course of the school year accumulating the highest individual total.

Kai is this months money hog champion. Our grade 10 personal finance class has a year long challenge involving a series of individual and group trivia type activities that test the accumulation of their knowledge and skills for which they can score points.
