PSS Spring Olympics!

On Thursday June 5th, 14 students in grades 7 through 12 participated in a Drone Field Day at AgQuest Fram in Elm Creek. This was the final session in the Science Experiential Aerial Research (SEAR) Program that these students have been working through. Throughout the day, students rotated through 8 different stations, training them on various RPAS piloting skills, agronomy, and an interactive experience with Agriculture in the Classroom. A huge shoutout to Volatus Aerospace for giving out students this opportunity!

Pictured here are Kai and Simon ready for their donations to go in the mail. As part of their business innovations course, each developed a business plan for a small business. They came up with their own product, advertised and ran the business during school hours and unlike most small businesses each turned a profit. Kai’s profits of $80.00 will go to the Red Cross for fire relief (which actually turns in $240 with the provincial and federal government matching donations) and Simon’s profit of $25 directed to Spirit of Hope Dog Rescue. Awesome job guys!

Very exciting times in Grade 1/2 as we watch the life cycle of Painted Lady Butterflies! Shown here….caterpillar to a ‘J’ to a chrysalis….and in about 10 days, the butterflies will emerge! ❤️

Grade 1/2 had a great time visiting the Pinawa Post Office as part of our local community learning! Highlights included seeing a hand pop through the mailbox, discovering that Santa’s postal code is HOH OHO, and helping deliver an Amazon package. A big thank you to our post office for the warm welcome and fun experience!

With the heat, FWG run-club moved indoors. The runners focused on lower body stretching and mechanics of flexibility!
